The invention relates to an item of furniture, having a vanity unit or mirror for bathrooms or rooms for sanitary fittings, which generally has a hot air generator (14, 15) and one or more pipes (12) which are connected on the one hand to the hot air generator and on the other hand have an outlet nozzle for expelling the hot air out of the item of furniture, valve members being provided to guide the air flow selectively towards the outlet nozzle of one pipe or another. An electric circuit is also provided, having control members for controlling the hot air generator, even in a temporary manner. The hot air generator can be a thermoventilator or a hair-drying device which is also removable for its normal use by hand, and the hot air generated can be used for drying hands, drying hair or even to prevent the mirror becoming misted. <IMAGE>
