The invention relates to a process and apparatus for the chemical cleaning of textiles in organic solvents, with a drying of the cleaning material and a distillation of the contaminated solvent. The subject of the invention is a proposal for the energy-saving execution of heat-energetic processes, especially the distillation in appropriate association with the drying on the heat-pump principle. According to the invention, heat energy is transported by means of a heat-exchange medium in circulation from a generator to a consumer and at the same time the heat-exchange medium can be fed to a heat pump. In terms of the apparatus, there are provided a steam generator with a heat consumer, with the interposition of a radiation compressor and a conveying device which form a heat-transmission system. The radiation compressor is the drive device of a heat pump for the distillation of the treatment medium and can be connected to the heat-transmission system. The technical and economic significance of the invention is that a solution for applying the heat-pump principle to distillation in a chemical cleaning machine has been found.
