In known devices of the aforementioned type, a plurality of keys allocated to numbers and keys allocated to the respective functions are provided for inputting values, as are, furthermore, the most varied display lamp and possibly a legend. The possibility of input errors is relatively great. In the subject-matter of the invention, only a few keys (three) and a single display are required, so that great clarity is achieved. This is achieved by the fact that a text memory (13) is provided which contains the names of the basic functions and the names of data specifying these functions which are successively displayed for selection in an alphanumeric plain-text display (2) by means of a microcomputer (10) which also controls the text memory (10), the microcomputer (10) being supplied with commands via two preselection operating elements (5, 7) and one selection operating element (6) (Figure 1). <IMAGE>
