In a tower crane with a two-piece jib, a third jib part is linked to the second jib part. The second jib part is guyed in the working position by a first guy rope coming into effect in this working position. The guy rope acts on the third jib part so that, when the jib approaches its working position, the guy rope of the second jib exerts a righting moment on the third jib part, by means of which the third jib part is also put into an extended position relative to the second jib part.
