PURPOSE:To manufacture fibers with constant polarization characteristics having high maintained characteristics of polarization, by placing a core material in the center of a quartz tube, arranging quartz glass rods and glass rods for applying stress to the front end back the right and left thereof, making the hollow part of the fiber solid by heating, and drawing the solid fibers. CONSTITUTION:A core material 22 as a glass rod to be a core is placed in the center of a quartz tube 21, and quartz glass rods 24 and 24 are inserted in the front and rear parts thereof. Plural glass rods 23 for applying stress are arranged in the right and left parts of the core material 22 and quartz glass rods 24. The resultant assembly containing the quarts tube 21, core material 22 inserted into the quartz tube 21 glass rods 23 for applying the stress and glass rods 24 is then made solid by heating and then drawn to give the aimed fiber 27 with constant polarization having the parts 26 for applying stress on both sides of the core 25 can be manufactured in good reproducibility. |
