The diagrammatically illustrated cutting device intended for an agricultural loading truck has a plurality of knives 7 which are arranged parallel to and at a distance next to one another, in their working position project into the feedshaft 4 of the loading truck, are pivotably mounted on the machine frame 8 counter to the force of a spring 14 as overload protection for automatically swinging out at a predetermined limit value of the feed pressure on the knife edge and are each loaded on their rear side in the direction of their working position by a spring-loaded leg 11 of a toggle lever 10,11 mounted on the frame. In the working position of the knives 7, the spring-loaded leg 11 engages releasably with a catch element 15 into a catch recess 16 on the rear side of the knife 7 and is connected to a spring 14 articulated on the pivot axle 12 of the toggle lever 10,11, the two legs 10,11 being maintained in a predetermined angular position relative to one another by the butting of the catch element 15 against the leg 10 in the direction of force of the spring 14.
