PURPOSE:To prevent buckling deformation of a succeeding web after cutting a web connecting end by disposing buckling preventing plates capable of freely moving across a running path above guide plates for guiding a web along a running path. CONSTITUTION:In the above apparatus, a succeeding web B is first drawn out by vacuum pressure of a draw-out machine 6. When the drawing speed concides with the running speed of a preceding web A, both webs A, B are cut at the same time by rotation of cutting drums 8A, 8B, and adhesive tapes T, T are put on the upper and lower surfaces of respective butt ends by the rotation of joining drums 9A, 9B. In this arrangement, two pairs of buckling preventing plates 12A, 12B are disposed in such a manner as to advance and retreat laterally to and from a running path 5 with a little space H from the first and second guide plates 10, 11. The respective buckling preventing plates 12A, 13A are advanced into the running path 5 by the operation of air cylinders 14A, 15A after cutting webs A, B to prevent buckling deformation of the webs. |
