DRY TYPE DESULFURIZING METHOD

PURPOSE:To make carbonized char of inexpensive general coal, etc. usable as a desulfurizing agent with a high desulfurization rate by passing repeatedly waste gas through a fluidized bed of a downflowing dry type desulfurizing agent in contact therewith orthogonally from the down stream side to the upper stream side thereof. CONSTITUTION:A moving bed 10 of a desulfurizing agent flowing downward at a specified velocity from top to bottom is formed in an adsorption column 4 and the desulfurizing agent is formed of carbonized char of inexpensive general coal or brown coal supplied from a regeneration column 5 and a reduction column 6 in a dry type desulfurizer consisting of a desulfurization stage 1, a regeneration stage 2 for the desulfurizing agent and a sulfur recovery stage 3. A guide plate 11 is further provided in the column 4 to pass orthogonally the waste gas 7, introduced from an introducing port 8 for the gas to be treated, through the above-mentioned bed 10 in three repetitions from top to bottom so that the SO2 in the gas 7 is adsorbed on the desulfurizing agent and is discharged from a discharging port 9. The adsorbent is regenerated by desorbing SO2 with the inert gas 17 heated in a regeneration column 5 and introduced into the adsorption column. The SO2 is reduced by the carbonized char in a reduction column 6 and sulfur is recovered. The residual char is returned together with the regenerated desulfurizing agent into the column 4.
