PURPOSE:To attain high speed running and dust proof, and to attain suitable recording of a digital signal by providing a sliding protection cover which slides back and forth and locks or releases a hub in response to the sliding, and a front cover turning in both up and down directions. CONSTITUTION:The front part of a cassette 1 is constituted of a back lid 3 sliding back and forth before loading and locking hubs 28a, 28b or releasing the locking according to the sliding and a front lid 2 turned in both up and down directions; and a magnetic tape 4 is sealed hermetically between the front lid 2 and the back lid 3 of the front part. In loading a cassette to a device, since the back lid 3 is slided backward and the front lid 2 is turned in up and down directions, a capstan or the like 13 is inserted freely between the tape 4 and the back lid 3 at the cassette front part, a recording/reproducing head 14 or the like is pushed onto the magnetic tape 4 exposed after turning the front lid 2 and the magnetic tape 2 is made run in a comparatively faster speed. |
