PURPOSE:To realize a magnetic head which is increased in hardness and can always keep a fixed gap width against wear caused by magnetic tapes and make highly dense magnetic recording, by using a rhodium foil formed by electroplating method as a gap material for the magnetic head. CONSTITUTION:A rhodium foil 14 of about 0.5mum in thickness obtained by electroplating method is put between core half-bodies 15 and 16 constituting a magnetic head made of a magnetic substance, such as permalloy, etc., together with a protective frame 13. Then the core half-bodies 15 and 16 are mechanically held by half-split core holders 17 and 18 which are constituted to have a prescribed shape with zinc die casting, etc., and the core half-bodies 15 and 16 are bonded to the half-split core holders 17 and 18 with a heating type bonding agent. In the next manufacturing process, the protective frame 13 is removed by leaving the rhodium foil 14 alone and, after prescribed magnetic head manufacturing processes, a magnetic head with a narrow gap is obtained. |
