PURPOSE:To enable development with high image quality without agitating the same in a developing device by agitating a high resistance magnetic toner by an agitation means to apply a semipermanent electrical polarization, supplying such high-resistance magnetic toner to the developing device and developing an electrostatic image. CONSTITUTION:A high-resistance magnetic toner 6 consisting essentially of magnetic material particles and a resin and having >=10<12>OMEGAcm volume resistivity is put in an agitating vessel 7. The toner is attracted to a metallic cylinder 8 by forming continuous chains around the same. When a magnet roll 9 is rotated in this state in an arrow direction, the toner 6 rotates in the chained form in the direction opposite to the rotating direction of the roll 9, by which the toner is agitated and a semipermanent electrical polarization is applied thereon. The toner 6 subjected to the agitation treatment in such a way is supplied to a developing device and is used to develop an electrostatic charge image. The develop with high image quality is accomplished with no need for agitating the toner in the developing device. |
