PURPOSE:To realize the picture reading function with compact constitution by mounting a cassette type picture reading means to a carriage. CONSTITUTION:A thermal head 4 and an ink ribbon cassette are removed from a carriage 3 at picture reading and a cassette 10 having image sensor almost the same shape as the ink ribbon cassette and a connector 11 are fitted. A printer control section 1 turns a platen 6 to feed the original, drives the carriage 3 so as to run the cassette 10 along the plane of original. Thus, a current is applied to a lighting bulb 13 via a flat cable 7 to light the plane of original. The image of the picture on the original is formed on an image sensor 5 via a lens 12 and read. The read picture data is applied to a document processor 2 via a cable 7 and the control section 1. |
