摘要 PURPOSE:To carry out development in a single stage by irradiating light of the 1st spectral wavelength and light of the 2nd spectral wavelength on an image carrier obtd. by successively laminating photoconductive layers which are sensitive to different spectral wavelengths to form an electrophotographic image having the 1st and the 2nd polarities. CONSTITUTION:An image carrier 1 is obtd. by successively laminating a photoconductive layer 1B having a sensitivity to the 1st spectral wavelength and a photoconductive layer 1C having sensitivity to the 2nd spectral wavelength on an electrically conductive substrate 1A. Light of the 1st spectral wavelength is irradiated on the carrier 1, and the carrier 1 is positively charged to 800V surface potential using a charger 3. Charges on the carrier 1 are eliminated to abut 0V surface potential with negative charge from a charge eliminator 2, and laser beams to which only the layer 1B has spectral sensitivity are irradiated to write in a light image. The surface potential of the irradiated part L1 is 400V. Laser beams to which only the layer 1C has spectral sensitivity are then irradiated to write in a light image. The surface potential of the irradiated part L2 is -400V. As a result, development can be carried out in a single stage.
