A magnetic recording/reproducing apparatus is constructed so that first and second signals are recorded in a magnetic layer of a magnetic recording medium (1) in a superposed state and are reproduced by magnetic heads (HV1, HV2 and HA1, HA2), respectively. According to this invention, the recording and reproduction of the first signal are barely affected by the second signal, even if it has a wide band-width and a high level. Accordingly, when the first signal includes a low-band converted color signal and a modulated luminance signal, and the second signal is a modulated aural signal, it is possible to record the signals without limiting the level of the modulated aural signal, and the S/N ratio of the aural signal can be improved. In addition, the low-band converted color signal and the modulated luminance signal can be recorded and reproduced by an ordinary system, so that the video signals of the apparatus in accordance with this invention are compatible with an ordinary system. |
