The invention relates to a device for pressing refuse located in a refuse container which is open at the top. To increase the receptivity of the container, the device has a support frame, a swivel arm which is mounted on the latter in a reciprocating manner and on whose free end a moulding plug is arranged, and a pneumatic cylinder which engages with the swivel arm and is mounted on the support frame, for swivelling the swivel arm.
