Method for washing dishes in a household dishwasher

After a final rinsing operation using heated water in a household dishwasher, heated air is passed over the dishes to dry them and the steam is directed out of the washing vessel. In order to reduce the power requirement during the final rinsing operation and during the subsequent drying operation, a rinsing agent is added to the water during the final rinsing operation and the water is subsequently only heated to a temperature which is so low that foaming of the rinsing agent is just reliably avoided. The heated air is subsequently directed through the washing vessel and takes up the film of rinsing water which adheres to the dishes.
