Purpose: plants which hardly climb, or non-climbing plants, can be grown on any façade or fronts. Novel aspects in architecture, landscape architecture and gardening are opened up. Particularly suitable for sloping and steep areas. Solution: soil, together with additives and if desired seed, is enclosed between plastic sheets or in boxes, either loose or shaped into raised beds. The sides, or recesses, in the plastic sheets and boxes are slotted or perforated so that water can penetrate from the outside and the plants can grow through these slots or perforations without this resulting in too great an evaporation of moisture. This principle has a great range of variations, for example large raised beds in individual pockets, quilted mats, transparent webs containing individual, small raised beds, and transparent long webs containing a large number of small raised beds of soil, if desired on both sides, or interconnected fillings divided in a sausage-like manner, or like strings of beads, in the form of hanging columns to be covered with a vegetation on all sides and equipped with an internal irrigation hose, or boxes in the shape of letters, and the like.
