In order to provide a safety cut-out for microwave ovens when the cooking space is opened, a plurality of protection switches are arranged whose serviceability can be confirmed by a monitoring circuit which can be connected to a power supply potential for the microwave circuit arrangement via a switch which is connected in a mechanically stable manner to a protection switch, via which the said power supply potential is supplied, and which switch is closed when said protection switch is in its open position and is open when said protection switch is in its closed position, and can be connected via a further protection switch, together with the microwave circuit arrangement, to the other power supply potential. <IMAGE>
