Such a device is arranged in a chamber (1) which is bounded by a tube plate (3) and the hemispherical bottom (2) of the steam generator. It is inserted into the chamber through an opening (5) located in the bottom and supported between the tube plate (3) and bottom (2). Because of the radiation load possibly emanating from the steam generator, the device must be capable of being inserted by simple means into the chamber and without stepping into it. For this purpose the weight-bearing leg (7) of the manipulator is assigned a pulley block (6) which is anchored in the tube plate (2) by means of an expanding finger (11) and can be connected to a mounting rod (12). The lifting hook (16) is attached to an eyelet (17) projection laterally from the weight-bearing leg (7) and is likewise to be connected to a mounting rod (12) in the form of a plug-in connection. In this case, the point (19) of action of the eyelet (17) on the weight-bearing leg is selected, and the point of contact of the eyelet with the lifting hook (16) projects so far from the weight-bearing leg that the pins (18) of the weight-bearing leg which face the tube plate (3) can be brought into a position prescribed by the expanding finger (11) of the pulley block into tubes (4) of the tube plate (3). <IMAGE>
