In a ball joint of the type wherein there is a flanged bush interposed between a pin with a head having an annular shoulder and a bearing ring rockably and rotatably mounted in a housing, the bush is rigid and formed of a hard material. A housing 1 carries a segmental spherical bearing ring 3, which is slidable against the corresponding face 4 of the housing. Located within a cylindrical bore in the bearing ring is a bush 7, having an outwardly directed annular flange 8 on one end, the one face of which is slidable on the flat end face of the ring. Within the bush is rotatably mounted a pin 2 having a head 9 with an annular shoulder 10 which is slidable on the other face of the flange 8. The head is pressed against the flange by a resilient elastic pad 12 compressed by the housing cover 11; the pad may be formed of polyurethane. The flanged bush is formed; of a hard material, which may be of sintered metal, e.g. iron, or accurately cast to shape out of spheroidal cast iron or aluminium. |
