An electronic protection arrangement for battery-operated loads consists of a series circuit of two disconnection elements, one being resettable and the other non-resettable. In the normal case, only the resettable disconnection element is in operation, which in the case of increased current disconnects the load and after a certain time connects it once again. In this way, the circuit monitors itself automatically. However, if the first disconnection element is defective the second disconnection element is brought in via a changeover device. This changeover element consists, for example, of a fuse which burns through in the event of a disturbance and finally renders the entire device de-energised.
