Wire-grid sheets, which are laid on the face support, for example on chock-type or shield-type support to avoid rock fall and dust formation in the case of friable roof layers, essentially comprise longitudinal, diagonal or cross wires and are connected to the following wire-grid sheets. To avoid large overlapping areas and to connect the abutting wire-grid sheets more quickly, provision is made for chords (10, 11, 12) to be connected to the longitudinal, diagonal or cross wires (6, 7, 8, 9) at the connecting points of the wire-grid sheets (1, 2), which chords (10, 11, 12) correspond to the length or the width of the wire-grid sheets (1, 2) (Fig. 1). <IMAGE>
