EXHAUST GAS PURIFYING APPARATUS FOR DIESEL ENGINE

PURPOSE:To prevent scattering of captured particulates and to reduce the pressure loss, by disposing a filter made of a roughly woven fabric of ceramic fiber on the upstream-side surface of a fine filter in an exhaust-gas purifying apparatus. CONSTITUTION:An exhaust-gas purifying apparatus 3 is disposed in an exhaust manifold 2 of a Diesel engine 1. The apparatus 3 is constituted by welding a punching metal 5 and a ring stay 6 to the inside of a cylindrical body 4 and inserting a fine filter 7 made of a ceramic foam or the like and a filter 8 made of ceramic fiber woven slightly roughly as compared with the filer 7 between the punching metal 5 and the ring stay 6. With such an arrangement, it is enabled to capture particulates consisting mainly of carbon in the exhaust gas efficiently. Further, since the particulate layer on the surface of the filler 7 is retained by the filter 8, it is enabled to prevent scattering of the captured particulates and to reduce the pressure loss.
