In a method for detecting the flow rates per unit of time of fluid media conducted through pipelines, the flow rate control being performed by at least one shut-off member inserted into the pipeline, for the purpose of easing the measured value acquisition and of reducing the installation expenditure it is proposed that the position of the shut-off member is detected and converted into an electrical signal, the pressure difference produced in the pipeline at the shut-off member is detected and converted into an electrical signal, the respective temporal period of the release of a defined flow cross-section and of a defined pressure difference is detected and converted into electrical signals, and the electrical signals thus generated are fed to an electronic logic element, combined, displayed, summed and once again displayed. <IMAGE>
