Apparatus for fitting elastic seals

To press elastic seals into their mounting grooves is mechanically difficult. If, according to the invention, a number of pushing elements are arranged in an apparatus in accordance with the seal contour and said elements are moved one after the other so that each of them pushes a portion of the seal into the groove, said seal is neither squashed nor stretched. The pushing elements are held in their starting position by springs and moved in the working direction by rollers. The rollers can be moved so that the pushing elements are actuated one after the other in accordance with the seal contour. An advancing device has the effect that, on repeated operation of the rollers successively, the end position of the pushing elements and hence also the precise position of the seal is attained. This method is particularly suitable for seals which are arranged in box-shaped objects.
