<p>PURPOSE:To reduce the size and weight of an optical coupling element and to enhance the withstand strength of the element by providing grooved recesses between external leads for a light emitting element and external leads for a photoreceptor in a package, thereby increasing the external creeping distance of the element. CONSTITUTION:A light emitting element 11 and a photoreceptor 12 are opposed, and external leads 13 for the element 11 and external leads 14 for the photoreceptor 12 are arranged to extend in opposite directions, the elements and the leads in the vicinity of the elements are sealed with transparent or the first molding resin 15 such as light transmission epoxy resin or the like which contains filler such as up to approx. 3% of TiO2, and the resin 15 is covered with the opaque second molding resin 16 of black color which contains dye or filler or the like. In this case, the minimum external creeping distance of the package exist at upper and lower surface sides, and grooved recesses 17 are formed over the entire length of the package on the second molding resin 16 of the upper and lower surfaces of the package between the leads 13 for the light emitting element and the leads 14 for the photoreceptor.</p> |
