In a method of continuously producing cartons of the same type but of different depths, a strip (29) of cardboard is supplied automatically to a set of friction rollers (44) which advance a preselected length of strip dictating the eventual depth of a carton. Simultaneously with advancement of the strip (29), creasing discs (54) provide longitudinal creases defining at least side panels of the carton Thereafter, successive carton blanks are severed and creased by a tool head (60) and each blank is advanced to one of a plurality of formers (84) mounted on arms (83) on a rotatable indexing hub (82). Various ploughs and pressure pads fold the carton blanks with adhesive being applied and the eventual erected, adhesively secured cartons are ejected from the formers onto a guideway (98). To change the depth of the cartons, controls vary the length of the strip advanced past the tool head (60), the folding and erection arrangements being common to a range of carton sizes. <IMAGE> |
