An arrangement for the separation of articles of sheet form of different thicknesses, stiffnesses and surface qualities from a stack 4 with the aid of stationary braking elements to ensure that only a single sheet is forwarded, comprises a separator shoulder 2 arranged between a drive, e.g. roller 7, for withdrawing articles of sheet form and a transport device 3. The shoulder 2 has a low-friction guide face 9 contrarily of the transport direction and a friction lining 10 in the transport direction and is fixed parallel to the roll axes of the transport device, extending into the transport path. The circumferential speed of the transport roll pair is here greater than the withdrawal speed on the stack. Guide plates and a possible second guide face additionally ensure trouble-free transport (Fig. 3).
