PURPOSE:To improve durability of a pulley and a V-belt and to improve power transmission efficiency by precisely increasing and decreasing the clamping force between the pulley and the V-belt in proportion to the transmission torque. CONSTITUTION:In case of up-shift, brakes 63, 73 are engaged, and sleeves 62, 72 are rotated relatively to sleeves 38, 47 of movable flanges. The movable flange 3B is displaced in direction of increasing the effective diameter, and the movable flange 4B is displaced in direction of decreasing the effective diameter to reduce the reduction gear ratio. At a setpoint, the brakes 63, 73 are released. In case of down-shift, a brake 66 is engaged to fix a sun gear 64S, and the sleeve 62 is rotated at an increasing speed by a ring gear 64R to displace the movable flange 3B in direction of decreasing the effective diameter. At a setpoint, the brake 66 is released. Thus, when a servo mechanism of the movable flange goes wrong, the speed change ratio is fixed to heighten safety. |
