PURPOSE:To produce a titled wire having tortoise shell-patterned grooves on the surface and good feedability with good productivity by subjecting successively a hot-rolled steel wire to stages including annealing in a neutral or reducing gaseous atmosphere, descaling, wiredrawing, plating and skin pass wiredrawing. CONSTITUTION:A hot-rolled steel wire is subjected to annealing in a reducing gaseous atmosphere of inert gas, neutral gas or CO, thereby forming an internal oxidized layer on the wire surface. The wire is then subjected to mechanical descaling and descaling by pickling and thereafter the wire is subjected to wiredrawing. After such wire is subjected to plating and skin pass treatment, a lubricant is coated thereon and the surface of the steel wire is polished. |
