At the end of automatic tracking, the opened switch 18 is closed. At the close of the switch 18, a pickup output from a magnetic resistor type head 13 is inputted to an encoder compensating circuit 19, an electric/machine transducer 12 is driven and controlled so that the output of the head 13 is maximized, and the converter is held at its position.
