PURPOSE:To provide a constant speed running device for car with enhanced safety, by checking normality in operation of a constant car speed control device even in the stage of signal output from sensors, and by stopping the constant car speed control if any abnormality is sensed according to the schedule. CONSTITUTION:A constant car speed control device 1 consisting of a micro- computer reduces the speed one after another if any abnormality is judged to exist through the car speed data as car speed signal S5 during constant speed running. If an abnormality has occurred in the fuel adjustment control loop, it will be sensed by a failure sensing circuit 12, and the fuel amount is immediately set to zero to stop the car. If further an abnormality is found in the data given by the sensors 6, 7, 8 for water temp., fuel temp. and accelerator operating amount, respectively, it shall be judged according to the schedule whether the set constant speed running control is to be continued, and in case the control shall be interrupted, the car speed is decreased gradually to lead to standstill. According to this arrangement there is no risk of braking the car violently, to ensure that the safety is maintained. |
