PURPOSE:To facilitate blowing of bottom slag in the part where blowing is difficult in the prior art and to assure thorough and quick repair by blowing the slag in the bottom of a converter through the tuyere toward the trunnion part of the converter thereby coating the slag on the trunnion part. CONSTITUTION:Tuyeres 5 are provided in the bottom 3 of a converter 3, and are inclined at such as angle at which the slag 6 remaining on the bottom 3 scatters like orbits 8. The converter 1 is positioned perpendicular and the bottom slag 6 is first blown through the tuyere 5 on the left side to the eroded part 4 in the trunnion part on the right side. The slag is then blown through the tuyere 5' on the right side toward the eroded part on the left side. The blowing position is adjusted by the blowing speed from the tuyere 5. Then the furnace wall except the trunnion part is easily repaired by tilting the furnace or with a blowing lance through the opening. The repair of the furnace wall is quickly accomplished and the operating efficiency of the furnace is improved. |
