PURPOSE:To provide a tapping installation which prevents the damage on the lining in a tap hole by using lateral and vertical pipelines in tapping the molten metal in a furnace and delivering the molten metal by the suction effect with a pressure difference and the siphon principle. CONSTITUTION:A traveling device 16 is advanced by a cylinder 17 toward the upper opening 4 of a tilted furnace body 1 and the top end 8 of an immersion pipe 7 is put into the body 1. A lifting table 14 is moved downward by a cylinder 15 to dip the end 8 in a molten metal. A sliding gate 11 is closed and the internal pressure in an intermediate vessel 6 is lowered by the suction of the gas in a suction and exhaust pipe 11 to suck the molten metal 2 into a vessel 6. The gate 11 is then opened to charge the molten metal through a charging pipe 12 into a ladle 20. If the level of the molten metal in the vessel 6 is adequately maintained by holding the adequate suction pressure, the molten metal 2 is tapped continuously by the siphon principle. The siphon effect ceases and the tapping is stopped if the pressure in the vessel 6 is released. The erosion of the refractories near the furnace port 4 is thus decreased and the life of the furnace is extended. |
