PURPOSE:To prevent a steering fluctuation when steering power is switched, by controlling the steering power to be gradually changed to a target value when the steering power is manually switched, in the case of a device whereby the steering power can be manually switched by stages in accordance with one's fondness. CONSTITUTION:If, for instance, a selector switch 10 of the selector switches 10- 12 is turned on, first a characteristic (b) corresponding to the selector switch 10 among the steering power change characteristics stored in a ROM20 is read in a CPU19 in a steering power control circuit 8. Next, an electric conduction current IB, such that the objective steering power corresponding to a car speed can be obtained, in a steering power control solenoid valve 7 is calculated from said characteristic (b) and the car speed once stored in a RAM21 by a car speed sensor 9. Then the solenoid valve 7 is electrified to be gradually controlled throughout in prescribed times from the proceding opening to the present opening after a point of time switching the selector switch 10 to be turned on, thus the objective steering power is generated. |
