PURPOSE:To enable a differential gear to be automatically changed over between the differential lock condition and the disengaged one by modifying an operating mechanism of the differential gear in an apparatus provided with the differential gear for driving left and right steerable wheels and capable of changing over said gear to the differential lock condition. CONSTITUTION:The rotation of an engine 7 is transmitted through a sub-transmission 9 to a transmission case 8 and through a differential gear 14 for the front wheels and a pair of left and right drag links 27 to the left and right front wheels 1 operatively steered. In such an apparatus, a shift fork 30 for operating a mating system differential lock piece 14a for the differential gear 14 is loosely fitted on a pivot 31 and urged toward the differential lock releasing side by a spring 32. Also, to the pivot 31 is secured fixedly a cam 33 for pressing the fork 30 against the differential lock side as said fork pivots forward and backward. And when a slide shaft 36 is pressed by projections 35a, 35b attached to a knuckle arm 26, the differential gear 14 is maintained at the differential lock condition through a swing link 34 and others.
