The device comprises a conduit 10 communicating, at one end, with a feed hose 11 and, at the other end, with a shower head 12. A valve 18, together with a valve seat 19, is provided in the conduit 10. The valve 18 is translationally integral with a piston 26 arranged in order to slide in a sleeve 27, the interior of which communicates with a space 29, located between a gripping handle 20 and a conduit 10, and filled with water. When the user grasps the handle 20 and presses it in his hand, pressurised water in the sleeve 27 pushes back the piston 26, which causes the separation of the valve 18 from its seat 19 and the water can flow towards the shower head 12. The invention permits substantial savings of water for sanitary use. <IMAGE>
