In a system for the automatic control and testing of the diverse electrical and mechanical assemblies of an automobile, a central control unit (UCC) in the instrument panel (CI) has a microcomputer, which receives the multiplexed information from the control switches to transmit it simultaneously and radially through control lines (DSM) to the various peripheral units (UP) using synchronous-sequential series transmission and receives the information from the various peripheral units (UP) through control lines (DSS) using sequential series transmission for display on the instrument panel (CI).
