摘要
1,167,123. Grinding. CARBORUNDUM CO. 1 Jan., 1968 [3 Jan., 1967], No. 28/68. Heading B3D. A spindle assembly for a tool, such as the grinding wheel 28 of a cut-off machine, comprises a drive member 54 rigidly secured to a rotatable shaft 50, a driven member 58 supporting the tool 28, means 72 connecting the drive and driven members and permitting relative movement therebetween, and selfcentring means 64 for maintaining the members in coaxial relationship when the tool is out of engagement with a workpiece. As applied to a cut-off machine, the spindle assembly carrying the grinding wheel 28 is mounted at the end of an arm 22 movable about a pivot 20 by a handle 24 for cutting a workpiece W. The wheel is driven by a belt drive 42 from a motor 36 mounted on the arm. The drive member 54 is screw threaded on to the shaft 50 and the driven member 58 has a flange 60 extending around the drive member with a clearance determined by shims 79 to limit the relative movement between the members. A strip of rubber 64 acts as the self-centring means for urging the members into coaxial relation; alternatively, a spring or corrugated strip of metal acts as the self-centring means. The grinding wheel is secured by a flange 68 and nut 20 to the driven member 58 which is secured to the drive member by bolts 71 which pass through bushings 73 of flexible material in bores in the member 54 and engage a clamp ring 74. Dirt is exluded from the assembly by a seal 80. In another embodiment, the clamping ring is secured by bolts to the flange of the driven member which is provided with studs extending into resilient bushings in the drive member.
