PURPOSE:To suppress in advance the abnormal rush operation of the DC bias current by suppressing the DC bias current to the minimum set value by operating suppressing means at the power source energizing time. CONSTITUTION:A suppressing unit clamps its output connection unit to VEE at the power source energizing time to, for example, suppress the function of a control signal from a comparator 4 to a drive unit 1, and the DC bias current value of the drive unit 1 is held to the minimum set value. After the prescribed period of time, a control signal of the drive unit 1 from the comparator 4 is released and reset to be shifted to normal control state. The unit 6 similarly operates to suppress the modulation signal voltage fed from the modulator 2 for the prescribed period of time. In this manner, the deterioration or damage of the semiconductor laser element 5 can be readily prevented. |
