<p>A monoazo dye for synthetic fibers is of the general formula
<Chemistry id="chema01" num="0001"><Image id="ia01" he="28" wi="92" file="IMGA0001.TIF" imgContent="chem" imgFormat="TIFF" inline="no" /></Chemistry>where X = H, -CH<Sub>3</Sub>, Cl or acetylamino, R<Sup>1</Sup> = phenyl, benzyl, phenethyl, phenoxymethyl or phenoxyethyl, R<Sup>2</Sup> = alkyl or alkoxyalkyl or (CH<Sub>2</Sub>)<Sub>n</Sub> COOR<Sup>1</Sup>.</p><p>The dyes are produced by coupling a diazonium salt of 2-amino-3-cyano-5-nitrothiophenone with the required aniline derivative, numerous examples of which are given.</p><p>Synthetic fibers, especially polyesters, are dyed with a dye bath or printing paste of the dye, to give a clear blue color with excellent fastness to sublimation, fastness to light, and resistance for after finishes and alkali discharge.</p> |
