Improved conveyor and transport system

An improved discharging system for the selective delivery of objects from a conveyor or similar system into an output area such as a second conveyor, on the basis of one or more signals assigned respectively to the objects to be transported. The system uses another conveyor-like device which runs essentially parallel to the conveyor carrying the objects and which has a multiplicity of pushing elements, which run essentially at right angles to the running direction of the conveyor-like device and can be slid in a reciprocating manner by means of a guide between a retracted resting position and an extended position, in which they project above the conveyor with the objects to be transported and can push an object from the conveyor to the output device. The system has means for determining the position of an object to be separated on the conveyor and of the closest pushing elements, to enable a pushing element to be extended and to come up against the centre of the object to be ejected, or two elements to be extended and to come up against both sides of the object to be ejected. As a plurality of actuating devices are used to initiate movement of the pushing elements, the system can work at greater speed than a single actuating device would permit.
