A light-triggered thyristor has a light-transmission path and a light-receiving structure having a light-reception area (5) on one surface (2). The light-receiving structure has a base region (3) of a first conductivity type which is exposed to light in the light-reception area. An emitter region (6c) of second conductivity type extends from the centre part of the light-reception area into a region outside the latter. An electrode is connected to the base region and to the emitter region outside the light-reception area. A transverse resistor in that zone of the base region which is not underneath the emitter region is approximately equally as large or larger than a transverse resistor in the zone of the base region underneath the emitter region. <IMAGE>
