MAGNETIC RECORDING MEDIUM

摘要

PURPOSE:To prevent the clogging of a magnetic head and to inhibit squeaking by forming a ferromagnetic metallic thin film having projections of a specified height on the surface at a specified density as a magnetic layer and by coating the surface of the thin film with a lubricant. CONSTITUTION:A ferromagnetic metallic thin film 2a having 1X10<5>-1X10<8> sharp projections 3a of 50-600Angstrom height per 1mm.<2> on the average on the surface is formed as a magnetic layer on a support 1a having sharp projections 4a on the surface, and the surface of the thin film 2a is coated with a lubricant 5a. The synergistic effect of the projections with the lubricant prevents the clogging of a head and inhibits squeaking. The ratio between length l2 and height h2 of each of the projections is 10:<=1, preferably 5:<=1.
