The invention relates to a pipe separator for installation in a pipe passage between a water supply point and a mixing device. To prevent any harmful mixture substances from being sucked out of the mixing device into the water pipe network when the water supply is shut off, a transfer pipe (13), which is connected to a piston (15) in a water pressure chamber (14), is mounted axially displaceably in the pipe separator. The water pressure chamber is connected to the water supply point. If the water supply is turned on, water flows into the water pressure chamber (14), with the result that the piston (15) and thus the transfer pipe (13) firmly connected thereto are axially displaced. The lower end of the transfer pipe (13) cooperates with a stop valve (7), which is open in the flow position of the pipe separator in order to free the pipe passage between water supply and mixing device. If the water supply is shut off, the piston (15) is drawn back, with support of a compression spring (16), owing to the resulting vacuum, with the result that the free end of the transfer pipe (13) is drawn out of the stop valve. The pipe passage between water supply point and mixing device is interrupted. <IMAGE>
