The device, which is particularly suitable for the thermal release of the power-loaded actuating member of a fire-protection flap, has a locking lever (16) which, in the locking position, surrounds a holding pin (38) of the power-loaded actuating member (8) by means of a lateral recess (40). The locking lever (16) is located at the end of a bar (14) which is guided in a sleeve (10) and extends into the air duct in which the fire-protection flap is located. A compression spring arranged between the end of the sleeve (10) and the end of the bar (14) attempts to pull the locking lever (16) down from the holding pin (38), but this is prevented by a thermally destructible release member (26) in the form of a leaf strip. This release member extends with radial spacing from the bar due to the fact that it is hooked onto two threaded bolts (12, 18) which project radially from the sleeve (10) and the bar (14). In the locking position, the locking lever (16) bears with prestress against the holding pin (38), the prestress being formed by a torque which results due to deflection of the release member in the circumferential direction. <IMAGE>
