IRON POWDER FOR POWDER METALLURGY

摘要

PURPOSE:To obtain a powdered iron material for powder metallurgy giving a green compact with improved strength by adding S to molten Fe and converting the molten Fe into powder by a water or gas atomizing method so as to incorporate a specified amount of S into Fe particles. CONSTITUTION:A prescribed amount of S is added to molten Fe in an Fe melting stage, and the molten Fe is converted into powder by a water or gas atomizing method to obtain a powdered iron material for powder metallurgy contg. 0.03-0.07% S in Fe particles. The material is compacted at a low reject rate and causes little dimensional change after sizing. It extends the life of a tool for mechanical working and has superior strength.
