PURPOSE:To improve compatibility with a binder and to improve a powder dislodging characteristic by using an organosiloxane compd. introduced with -OSi(CH3)3 in a constitutional formula as a lubricant. CONSTITUTION:A magnetic recording medium holds an organosiloxane compd. expressed by the general formula. If the number of carbon atoms in the organosiloxane compd. is <7, the coefft. of friction is not decreased and durability is decreased and if the number of carbon atoms exceeds 21, a decrease in compatibility with a magnetic layer and an increase in a m.p. arise, thus providing more vulnerability to blooming. When (p) exceeds 12, a decrease in the compatibility with the magnetic layer and an increase in a m.p. arise, providing more susceptibility to blooming and staining of head. The organosiloxane lubricant used is preferably added at 0.5-7pts.wt. (PHP) in 100pts.wt. the magnetic power in a magnetic layer in the case of incorporating the same in the magnetic layer. Said lubricant is preferably added at 0.5-200pts.wt. (PHR) in 100pts.wt. the binder in a back coating layer in the case of incorporating the same in the back coating layer. |
