A device for collecting drill cuttings knocked free by the tool of a powered hand tool (1) is described which has a collecting container (10) which covers the working location and through which the tool (3) passes. The collecting container (10) is held by a supporting means (17) which is fastened to the powered hand tool (1) and has two extension arms (14, 15) disposed in a plane normal to the axis of the tool (3) and at an angle of preferably 90 DEG to one another. The free ends of the extension arms (14, 15) have holding means (16) for arranging on a supporting element (18, 19) of the supporting means (17). In this way, the device for collecting drill cuttings is at the same time suitable as a right-angle drilling aid. In addition, the device can have a lamp (44) for illuminating the working location, a metal-detector instrument (48-52) and/or a voltage detector (54).
