Exhaust silencer for internal combustion engines, having a two-part silencer box. In the region of the inflow opening for the exhaust gases, the silencer box comprises a metallic reducer and, for the remainder, a plastic casing. As regards its internal structure, the exhaust silencer can be an absorption, reflection or interference silencer. The metallic reducer serves as an adaptor for connection to various types of internal combustion engines. A preferred use for the invention is in the construction of model aircraft.
